Family Hardware Corp. was started by our parents, George and Pauline Prescod, (Pauline is now deceased.) Our dad, now retired, was a licensed remodeling contractor in Boston for many years. As he neared his 40th birthday he realized the difficulty and impracticability of climbing ladders at age 50 and so decided to change his career path to becoming a business owner instead. He learned the basics of how to run an organization from a friend/mentor. The FHC concept became a reality at 995 Blue Hill Ave. Several years later, Family Hardware Corp moved to its present location at 1106 Blue Hill Ave in Dorchester.

Family Hardware Corp is staffed and now ran by three of the six children, Natalie Santos Castillo, Kimberly Thomas and George Prescod, Jr.. Some of his grandchildren are now old enough to work on a part time basis as needed. Our store is a one-stop location for home goods, hardware, lumber and more. We also custom order large appliances and custom doors.  We cater to our community and support many of the local charity drives and causes. We are a locally owned and operated oasis where one can have keys cut, purchase doors, custom made window screens, paint, plywood and mulch for your garden.

If requested, our staff can offer free advice on many home projects. We offer top quality service and strive to be ethical, friendly and professional. One member of the staff is also bi-lingual and can assist with our Spanish-speaking clients.
